An innovative reference design of ultra-thin iTOF module by ABAX SENSING

In the exhibition of LASER WORLD of PHOTONICS CHINA 2021 Shanghai, ABAX SENSING announced an ultra-thin iTOF module reference design. This ultra-thin iTOF sensor including innovative designed lens is a great upgrade and exploration on consumer-level 3D sensing devices. With innovative design on lens and module, this iTOF module support a resolution of QVGA (320×240) in less than 3mm. In our design, an innovative designed, ‘N in 1’ lens is used in the module in replace of traditional multi-pieces lens design, which reduced the total thickness of the module. With supporting of the host device, the thickness of this iTOF module can be compressed down to 2.5mm. This breakthrough shows a promising future in cutting down the total thickness, cost and complexity of TOF module.


ABAX SENSING will upgrade this ultra-thin iTOF module reference design by replacing current sensor with fully self-designed iTOF sensor with higher resolution in the future. The resolution will upgrade to VGA(640×480), 720p(1280×720), or even 1080p(1920×1080). This ultra-thin iTOF module reference design can be deployed on different devices such as smartphone, smart wearable device, smart lock, sweeping robot, driver monitor system (DMS), industrial camera, and can be used in multiple applications such as AR/VR, facial recognition, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), etc.
